Journey Acquires Dimension to Strengthen Capabilities in Virtual and Immersive Production
- Dimension joins Journey’s network of studios focused on design, media, and next-generation content production.
- The studio will retain its leadership and continue operating independently, with expanded collaboration opportunities.
Dimension, a studio specializing in virtual production, digital humans, and volumetric video, has been acquired by experience agency Journey. The acquisition, announced on the company's website, brings Dimension into a group of companies focused on design, media, and next-generation production, and places the studio within Journey’s broader network.
Dimension offers services spanning visualisation, virtual production, virtual worlds, digital humans, volumetric capture, performance capture, and Gen AI. The studio develops 3D environments for film, episodic, live events, and immersive experiences, and says it operates one of the largest Unreal Engine art teams outside of gaming. It also co-developed a mobile 4K volumetric capture stage with MRMC, enabling remote full-body 3D content production. Recent projects include using its volumetric digital crowds pipeline to create Munchkins, which was used in crowd scenes for Universal Pictures’ Wicked Part 1 and Wicked: For Good.
