Boston Dynamics’ Atlas to Make First Public Appearance at CES 2026

Hyundai Motor Group said it will reveal its AI Robotics Strategy at CES 2026, focusing on human-robot collaboration, manufacturing innovation, and advancing AI robotics commercialization. As part of this, the company will present the first public onstage appearance of Boston Dynamics’ new Atlas robot, which Hyundai describes as “a tangible step toward the commercialization of AI Robotics” and part of its commitment to building “safe and adaptable robotic co-workers.”
Boston Dynamics describes Atlas as a fully electric humanoid robot designed for real-world applications, building on decades of research. The company states that Atlas uses advanced control systems and state-of-the-art hardware, including a custom battery, advanced actuators, and lightweight titanium and aluminum 3D-printed components, to support balance, agility, and whole-body movement.

Atlas is one of Boston Dynamics’ three flagship robots, alongside Spot and Stretch. Spot is deployed globally for inspections in hazardous environments, and Stretch is designed for warehouse operations to assist with physically demanding tasks. Hyundai Motor Group has also said it will begin piloting the all-new Atlas at its Metaplant America facility as part of a broader AI- and robotics-enabled Software-Defined Factory.
