  • The companies will expand drone delivery service to 150 additional Walmart stores, reaching over 40 million Americans.
  • Operations will cover major metro areas including Los Angeles, Miami, St. Louis, and Cincinnati, with a full network of 270 sites planned by 2027.

Wing and Walmart will expand their drone delivery service to 150 more stores over the next year, in what the companies call "the world’s largest drone delivery expansion." The rollout will shift the program from a regional pilot to a national network, reaching over 40 million people. The companies say the goal is to make fast, on-demand delivery available across the country.

The new rollout will cover Los Angeles, Miami, St. Louis, and Cincinnati, with more cities to be announced. These add to earlier plans for Houston, Orlando, Tampa, and Charlotte. Service in Houston starts January 15, as Wing and Walmart move toward a total of 270 locations by 2027.

“Drone delivery plays an important role in our ability to deliver what customers want, exactly when they want it. Whether it’s a last-minute ingredient for dinner, a must-have charger for a phone, or a late-night essential for a busy family, the strong adoption we’ve seen confirms that this is the future of convenience,” said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President of Digital Fulfillment Transformation at Walmart, in an official news release. “By expanding drone delivery to new major metro areas, we are helping more customers solve for their last-minute needs faster than ever before.”

According to Wing, its existing operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Metro Atlanta areas have shown strong adoption. Delivery volume has tripled in the past six months, and top users order up to three times per week. Wing says that this expansion builds on the success of its operations in these areas.
