Webex Adds 3D Model Collaboration for Apple Vision Pro

- Cisco’s new feature lets Webex users manipulate and co-explore 3D models during live meetings in Vision Pro.
- The immersive tool supports uploads from multiple devices and builds on its Spatial Meetings capability, launched last year.
Cisco introduced 3D Model Collaboration, a new feature for its Vision Pro meeting app that lets users share, manipulate, and co-explore 3D models in real time. The feature builds on its Spatial Meetings capability released last year, which uses the dual cameras in the Cisco Room Bar Pro to bring depth and realism to meetings on Apple's mixed reality headset.
With this new capability, Webex users can upload models from either their Vision Pro or a desktop, interact with them through gestures, and collaborate simultaneously with others in the same virtual meeting. The tool supports multiple models per session and lets hosts control who can move or edit each one. This functionality is designed for sectors like manufacturing, design, healthcare, and retail, where 3D models are used for prototyping, simulation, training, and more.
According to Cisco, the launch aims to transform how teams work with 3D content by replacing flat-screen limitations with immersive, spatial interactions. Users can access the new feature in the Webex for Apple Vision Pro app, which is available in the Apple App Store.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
This new feature allows meetings to make better use of spatial computing. 3D models are especially useful for brainstorming, prototyping, design, and education, and bringing teams around models together is something flat screens just can’t match.
