  • Waymo tripled its public ride volume in 2025, reaching over 14 million trips and forecasting 20 million lifetime rides by year-end.
  • The company plans to launch service in 20+ additional cities, including Tokyo and London, in 2026.

Waymo ended 2025 with more than 14 million fully autonomous rides, more than tripling its public ride count from the prior year, according to a year-end blog post on the company website. The company passed 1 million monthly rides this spring and stated it is on track to reach 1 million rides per week by the end of 2026.

Riders spent over 3.8 million hours in Waymo vehicles in 2025. The company reported helping avoid more than 18 million kilograms of CO2 emissions. It also highlighted a more than 10-fold reduction in serious injury or worse crashes compared to human drivers.

In 2026, Waymo plans to expand operations to more than 20 additional cities, including international locations such as Tokyo and London. The company will also broaden freeway access and airport service, following permits at San Francisco and San Jose airports and recently offering employees fully autonomous rides at Miami International.

🌀 Tom’s Take:

The speed at which Waymo is scaling is impressive. Tripling rides in a year and targeting a million per week shows autonomous operations moving into real, sustained volume.
