“Miami is a city defined by its energy, myriad of global cultures, and its forward-looking spirit, and Waymo is proud to add to that momentum,” said Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO of Waymo, in an official news release. “We’re excited to offer its residents and visitors a safe, reliable, and magical way to move around and look forward to earning their trust with every ride.”

Waymo cites over 127 million miles driven autonomously and a tenfold reduction in serious injury crashes in its service areas as part of its safety case. The company says its system is designed to handle Miami’s intense sun and tropical storms. It is also working with local groups to support accessibility and impaired driving prevention, including partnerships with MADD South Florida and the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.

🌀 Tom’s Take:

Waymo’s steady rollout into Miami shows the company is sticking to its playbook: expand city by city, keep it controlled, and prove autonomy can scale.
