  • Waymo is expanding to Nashville using its autonomous driving tech and Lyft’s Flexdrive fleet system.
  • The service follows over 100 million driverless miles and operations in five other U.S. cities.

Waymo is bringing its driverless ride-hailing service to Nashville. The launch is happening through a partnership with Lyft, combining Waymo’s self-driving technology with Lyft’s vehicle operations arm, Flexdrive. This will be Waymo’s first deployment in Tennessee.

Riders will start by using the Waymo app to get a car. As the service grows, they’ll also be able to book a Waymo ride through the Lyft app. The system is built on Waymo’s tech, which now handles hundreds of thousands of rides per week in other cities.

With more than 100 million fully autonomous miles driven on public roads, Waymo plans to begin operations in Nashville within a few months, with public rides available next year. The city joins a growing list as Waymo expands across the U.S.

🌀 Tom’s Take:

Waymo’s move into Nashville shows how fast it’s expanding. With testing in New York, airport rides at SFO, and launches in Seattle and Denver, it’s clear the company isn’t slowing down.
