At launch, deliveries will come from DashMart, DoorDash’s convenience and retail store. To use it, customers opt in for autonomous vehicle delivery at checkout. When the Waymo vehicle arrives, they unlock the trunk using the DoorDash app and pick up their items.

Waymo noted that this initiative builds on its existing footprint in Phoenix, where it operates the largest fully autonomous ride-hailing service in the U.S. The company says its vehicles have logged a total of over 100 million miles, completed 10 million trips, and plans to expand deliveries to additional local merchants in the future.

“We are excited to make everyday errands easier with the Waymo Driver, offering the added peace of mind that comes with our safe and reliable technology. Through our partnership with DoorDash, we leverage our proven delivery experience to provide customers with a seamless, contact-free way to get items they need, whether it’s groceries or a quick bite,” – says Nicole Gavel, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Waymo, in an official news release.

DashPass members can also access a promotional offer for Waymo rides in Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
