vivo has unveiled the Vision Discovery Edition, its first mixed reality headset. Developed over four years, the device marks the smartphone maker’s entry into spatial computing. It’s built for daily use, with a focus on comfort, spatial awareness, and smooth interaction.

“Today, we are here in Chang ‘an, where vivo’s dream began. We are not here to revisit past milestones, but to witness how vivo has forged its own path over thirty years of hard work and perseverance. It’s a path of passion fueled by technology and rooted in humanity. It’s about working together for mutual benefit. Above all, it’s about putting users first and perfecting our products! Our aim is to let ‘technology illuminate beauty’, and our goal is to reach every user. As for how long we will walk this road? We’re committed to a century‑long journey toward a business that endures!” said Hu Baishan, Executive Vice President & COO at vivo, President of vivo Central Research Institute, in an official press release.

The headset features dual 8K Micro-OLED displays, eye-tracking, and gesture recognition. It runs on its own operating system, OriginOS Vision, and is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform. Weighing 398g, the device includes customizable seals and foam padding to support extended wear. vivo says its headset is 26% smaller than the industry average.

The headset is designed for immersive content and everyday utility, supporting video, gaming, productivity, and live sports viewing from multiple angles. Users can create a virtual 120-foot screen, switch between perspectives, or run apps side by side in split-screen mode—all within a single spatial environment.

vivo positions the Vision Discovery Edition as a core step in its long-term spatial computing strategy. The company is expected to continue developing this platform alongside its broader ecosystem of imaging, mobile devices, and cross-device experiences.
