  • Unity has officially released its Android XR Public Verified Package, marking it stable and ready for full-scale development.
  • Developers, including TRIPP and Litesport, were part of the verification initiative.

Unity has officially verified its Android XR package, confirming it’s stable and ready for production use. The release marks a key step for developers building immersive apps and games for Android XR devices.

This Verified release builds upon Unity 6, which was released back in October 2024 with Android XR support. Unity subsequently spotlighted developers porting real-world titles, including Demeo, TRIPP, and Vacation Simulator, using Unity 6 and OpenXR. Feedback from developers like Litesport and TRIPP helped shape the final package as part of Unity's verification initiative.

Developers can find setup details in Unity’s documentation or by using the Package Manager. A livestream on July 10 on Unity's YouTube channel will showcase current Android XR support and demonstrate a multiplayer VR template built on the platform.

🌀 Tom’s Take:

Unity has been steadily building the tools developers need to reach broader audiences across XR platforms. With Android XR headsets on the horizon, this production-ready milestone ensures creators can confidently prepare their games for the next wave of hardware.
