Unity 6.2 Launches With Built-In AI Assistant and Verified Android XR Support

- Unity AI is now integrated in the Editor as a free beta, with tools for automation, asset generation, and in-context support.
- Android XR becomes a verified package in 6.2, with new runtime and rendering features for mobile XR development.
Unity 6.2 is now available as a production-supported release, with two major updates: Unity AI Beta is built into the Editor, and Android XR tools are now verified. The company says the release delivers on its goal to make the engine faster, more stable, and easier to use across platforms.
The Unity AI Beta is free to use during the beta period and comes with unlimited Unity Points (credits needed to use this system). It helps developers audit assets, debug scripts, build scenes, and generate placeholder content, all directly inside the Editor. Developers can also opt out of data sharing or disable AI features at the org or project level.
Android XR is now a verified package in 6.2, offering a more stable foundation for XR development on mobile. The release introduces support for hand mesh occlusion, runtime-based refresh rate adjustments, and visibility mesh occlusion to reduce GPU load when applying image effects in URP. Other improvements include expanded diagnostics for tracking performance and crashes across devices, new support for rendering UI directly in world space, and tools like Mesh LOD generation to streamline asset imports.
The company recommends upgrading to Unity 6.2 to get the newest AI and XR tools and is asking developers to provide feedback on Unity AI while in Beta.
