Unitree has announced the launch of the R1, a humanoid robot starting at $5,900. Designed to accelerate the agent era, the R1 weighs around 25 kilograms and integrates a large multimodal model for visual and voice interaction.

The robot includes an ultra-wide-angle humanoid binocular camera, a 4-microphone array, stereo speakers, and a smart battery with quick-release functionality. It is powered by an onboard computing module with an 8-core CPU and GPU.

With its sub-$6,000 price tag, the R1 signals a potential shift in accessibility for humanoid robotics. Unitree notes that the global humanoid robot industry is still in the early stages of exploration, and invites users to develop and customize the R1 as functions continue to roll out.
