  • The Series B funding will support Sovato’s system-agnostic platform enabling remote robotic surgeries and procedures.
  • Sovato has demonstrated telesurgery feasibility with cases spanning hundreds to thousands of miles across the U.S. and internationally.

Sovato has raised $41 million in Series B funding to expand what it describes as the first and only platform for remote robotic surgery and procedure programs, also known as telesurgery. Led by Beringea with participation from existing and new investors, the funding will accelerate platform development and strategic collaborations across the surgical robotics ecosystem.

"Over half the world’s population lacks access to timely, safe surgical care, and in the U.S., millions are still forced to travel for routine procedures—a challenge that will only grow as surgeon shortages intensify,” said Cynthia Perazzo, Co-Founder and CEO of Sovato, in a press release. “Remote robotic surgery and procedure programs provide healthcare organizations with a practical way to extend the reach and impact of skilled surgeons, care teams, and operating rooms—enabling a more sustainable and accessible model of care.”

The company’s platform can be used with any surgical, interventional, or diagnostic robotic system, allowing physicians to perform procedures remotely. Sovato has already demonstrated safety and feasibility through preclinical telesurgery cases conducted over distances ranging from hundreds to thousands of miles, replicating real-world healthcare delivery models.

With more than 246 companies reported to be in the robotic surgery market, according to consultancy Fletcher Spaght, Sovato is positioning its technology as a scalable solution to extend surgical expertise and access. The company is also working with partners to set clinical and operational standards for safe, effective telesurgery deployment.
