ShelfOptix Makes Real-Time Shelf Intelligence a Managed Service

- Brain Corp and Driveline Retail have introduced ShelfOptix, a national robot-powered shelf intelligence service.
- Pilots with major retailers have already shown improved real-time visibility and faster response to shelf issues.
Brain Corp and Driveline Retail have rolled out ShelfOptix, a robot-powered service that delivers real-time shelf visibility without requiring retailers to manage the hardware. Billed as the first fully managed solution of its kind, the service offers a new model for shelf intelligence, pairing autonomy with scale to reduce costly gaps in on-shelf availability and product execution. ShelfOptix aims to close the gap between what systems show and what is actually on shelves.
“With robot-powered shelf intelligence delivered through the simplicity of a fully managed service, ShelfOptix is making accurate shelf insights more accessible at scale,” said David Pinn, CEO of Brain Corp, in an official news release. “This gives retailers and brands the visibility they need to close the reality gap between what systems show and what’s truly on the shelf, without having to operate or maintain a single robot. It’s a unique service that’s precise, packed with insights, and effortless to scale.”
At the center of the service is a fleet of foldable, portable shelf-scanning robots powered by Brain Corp’s AI. These robots capture high-fidelity shelf data with precision and consistency, which is then turned into actionable insights by Driveline Retail’s national network of 15,000+ field reps. The service handles everything from shelf layout checks to pricing and deliveries, without asking retailers to own or run any robots.
ShelfOptix is currently in pilot programs with major U.S. retailers, including Southeastern Grocers. The early results have shown improved real-time visibility and faster response to shelf issues. Brain Corp and Driveline expect to scale the service, with thousands of robots in the field by the end of 2026.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
Robots and AI are finally giving retailers the ground truth they’ve been missing by turning shelf data into a scalable service that informs smarter, faster decisions in-store.
