Pronto Acquires SafeAI to Lead in Off-Road Autonomy

- Pronto has acquired SafeAI, combining their off-road autonomous solutions into a unified, tiered technology offering.
- The merger integrates SafeAI’s ASIL D-certified safety framework with Pronto’s camera-only and multi-sensor Autonomous Haulage Systems.
Pronto has acquired SafeAI, expanding its reach across mining, quarrying, and construction. The two companies will combine their autonomous systems to offer a wider range of options for off-road and heavy industry sites.
The combined entity will offer a two-tiered product lineup: a commercially proven, camera-only Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) for quick deployment and cost efficiency, and a premium multi-sensor version enhanced by SafeAI’s industry-certified safety framework.
“Pronto is automating everything with wheels, starting with mining trucks, focused on becoming the first profitable autonomous vehicle company," said Anthony Levandowski, CEO of Pronto, in an official press release. "This acquisition solidifies our leadership in the automation of the mining, quarrying, and construction industries, and will help us further accelerate the commercial deployment of our technologies to sites around the world."
This strategic acquisition follows Pronto's global agreement to deploy over 100 autonomous trucks with Heidelberg Materials and its recent expansion into Brazil. The deal also unites talent from companies such as Google, Uber, Apple, Tesla, and Caterpillar.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
By combining SafeAI’s certified safety systems with Pronto’s fast-deploy technology, this deal shows that autonomy in mining and construction is no longer experimental. It’s operational, flexible, and poised for global scale.
