Niantic Brings Its Virtual Pet to Meta Quest 3 Users Worldwide

- Hello, Dot exits early access and becomes a fully interactive MR pet experience available worldwide on Meta Quest 3.
- New features include minigames, a Gen AI-based customization tool, and deeper spatial interactions for connecting digital companions.
Niantic has officially launched Hello, Dot worldwide on Meta Quest 3. It’s a free experience within the Peridot platform that brings Dots—digital pets—into a mixed-reality setting, moving play beyond the mobile screen.
The updated version includes a playful arcade machine that appears in your room. You can pull a lever to start minigames like Dotball, an Eating Contest, or go on a Play Date. You earn in-game currency to spend on outfits and items to customize your Dot as you play.
Generative AI also powers a new customization tool. Just speak into a virtual microphone and describe how you want your Dot to look. Whether it’s a starry coat or something fiery, the Dot gets updated through a magical paint bucket animation that brings your idea to life on the spot.
🌀 Toms' Take:
Niantic’s Peridot continues to redefine what gaming can be in the age of spatial computing. With the official launch of Hello, Dot on Meta Quest, alongside the mobile app’s pioneering use of semantic segmentation to understand real-world environments and the Peridot Beyond AR experience on Snap’s Spectacles, Dots are quickly emerging as the definitive digital companion of spatial play.
