Meta has announced its first-ever AI glasses with a built-in display, Meta Ray-Ban Display. Debuting at Connect 2025, the product marks a new category for Meta, combining screen, compute, camera, audio, and AI in a wearable device. It launches September 30 in the U.S. for $799 USD with an International rollout beginning in early 2026.

The glasses feature a full-color, 600x600p high-resolution monocular display with 42 pixels per degree, housed in a redesigned Wayfarer frame, which comes in Sand or Black. They include speakers, microphones, and a camera for media capture, all packed into a 69-gram form factor. Transitions lenses, two frame sizes, and up to six hours of mixed-use battery life support all-day wear. A collapsible charging case extends total battery life to 30 hours. The glasses also support a prescription range of -4.00 to +4.00.
Paired with the glasses is the Meta Neural Band, an EMG wristband that interprets muscle signals for hands-free control. It enables gestures like pinching, swiping, and rotating using subtle hand movements. The band is water-resistant, lasts up to 18 hours, and includes electrodes coated with diamond-like carbon, reinforced by Vectran for strength and comfort.

Meta Ran-Ban Display supports private message previews, photo zoom, video calling, pedestrian navigation, live captions and translation, and music control. Meta AI appears visually for tasks like step-by-step instructions, and a live camera viewfinder allows for real-time media capture. Upcoming features include EMG handwriting input and a dedicated Reels app.

Meta is launching the bundle through select U.S. retailers, including Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Ray-Ban Stores. Verizon locations will follow, with additional buying options and countries coming in 2026.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
Meta isn’t just extending its popular line of AI glasses with a display. It’s beginning to redefine our post-smartphone era with the introduction of an EMG wristband that enables a brand-new way to engage with our tech on the go.
