- The update also adds new software capabilities, including food logging, message summaries, and expanded apps and content on display-enabled models.
Meta is introducing a new set of Ray-Ban Meta frames designed to better support prescription use and all-day wear. The update brings broader prescription compatibility along with physical adjustments like flexible hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and adjustable temple tips to improve fit across different face shapes. The lineup includes two frame styles with multiple sizes, color options, and an updated charging case.
The company is also expanding its broader glasses lineup with additional lens types and color combinations across Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta models. New options include light-adaptive lenses and sport-oriented variations, along with limited seasonal styles. The new prescription-capable line starts at $499, with pre-orders opening in the United States and wider retail availability beginning mid-April.
On the software side, Meta is adding features powered by its built-in assistant. Users will be able to log meals using voice or photos, receive summaries of WhatsApp conversations, and access entertainment like short-form video and games directly through display-enabled glasses. Additional updates include navigation, calendar access, handwriting input, and expanded language support for real-time translation, with rollout planned across new regions in the coming months.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
People were already swapping in prescription lenses with earlier versions, but this makes it official. Moving from occasional, sunglasses-style use into something you can wear all day is a real shift. It turns smartglasses from a gadget into an everyday device much closer to our PCs, smartwatches, or smartphones.
