Luminary Cloud has raised $72 million in Series B funding to grow its Physics AI platform. The round was led by N47, previously known as Next47, with participation from Sutter Hill Ventures and NVentures, the investment arm of NVIDIA. The company will use the funding to advance research into expanding applications and to build out its go-to-market team.

“AI for the physical world is a generational market opportunity,” said T.J. Rylander, General Partner at N47, in the press release.

Luminary’s platform uses physics-based simulation to model how products like cars and aircraft perform under different conditions. It generates synthetic training data at scale, enabling users to build custom models and predict performance outcomes in near real time. This speeds up design cycles, expands the range of ideas teams can explore, and supports integration into real-time systems.

“This new investment and group of strategic investors will help Luminary take advantage of the real energy and interest in Physics AI,” said Pete Schlampp, CEO at Luminary Cloud, in a press release. “We are grateful for the partnership and trust from our new investors, our inspiring customers, and our amazing partners.”

🌀 Tom’s Take:

Using physics for simulation lets AI make accurate predictions without tons of real-world data. It’s a practical way to speed up how physical products get designed.
