International Motors Begins Testing Autonomous Trucks on I-35 Corridor

- International Motors has launched real-world testing of its second-generation autonomous trucks in collaboration with PlusAI.
- The fleet trials will operate along the I-35 corridor and are managed from a new autonomous hub in San Antonio.
International Motors announced the launch of customer fleet trials using its second-generation autonomous vehicles. Conducted in partnership with PlusAI, the pilot represents what the company calls a significant step in advancing its autonomous program.
The trucks run on PlusAI’s AI-based driving software, trained directly from real-world data and designed to adapt to new routes, geographies, and driving conditions. A multimodal sensor kit, including imaging radar, lidar, and strategically placed cameras, provides 360-degree vision to support precise and efficient autonomous operation while prioritizing safety and reliability.
According to the company, this phase will provide critical feedback and help refine the autonomous solution for future deployment. The goal is to scale hub-to-hub operations across major freight corridors using commercially viable, factory-installed technology.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
Hub-to-hub routes are the most practical starting point for autonomous freight. These trials will test whether factory-installed systems can reliably handle repetitive, long-haul corridors at commercial scale.
