- Hyundai to Pilot Boston Dynamics’ All-New Atlas at $12.6B Smart Factory
- The robot pilot is part of a large-scale AI and robotics system at the $12.6 billion Software Defined Factory.
Hyundai Motor Group will begin piloting Boston Dynamics’ All-New Atlas humanoid robot at its newly opened Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia. Designed as a Software Defined Factory, the site integrates AI, robotics, and IT across logistics, production, and facility management.
The robot will assist with tasks that are too heavy, hazardous, or difficult for human workers. The factory also uses autonomous drones equipped with data analysis and forecasting capabilities and automated robots that navigate the facility to support logistics.
The $12.6 billion investment includes the plant and joint ventures in the region, which also involve Hyundai affiliates producing battery systems and key modules on-site. Hyundai Mobis produces battery systems and modules using automated systems, while Hyundai Glovis operates facilities enhanced by autonomous systems.
