HomeBase Pilots Simbe’s Shelf-Scanning Robot at Two Locations

- HomeBase USA has deployed Simbe Robotics’ Tally robot in stores in Copperas Cove, TX and Laramie, WY.
- The pilot aims to enhance inventory accuracy, reduce labor demands, and improve the customer shopping experience.
Home improvement retailer, HomeBase USA, has begun a pilot program of Simbe Robotics’ Store Intelligence platform, featuring the autonomous shelf-scanning robot Tally, at two of its retail locations. The test includes one site in Texas and another in Wyoming, the latter marking Tally’s first use in that state.
Tally is designed to automate the tracking of product availability, pricing, and shelf placement across high-SKU environments. The robot collects real-time data multiple times daily, which is delivered to staff via a mobile app to prioritize restocking and correction tasks.
HomeBase expects the pilot to alleviate manual inventory work, which often takes up to 30 hours per week per store. According to Simbe Robotics, early metrics from broader deployments show Tally enabling 98% on-shelf availability and 50+ weekly labor hours reallocated to more customer-focused tasks.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
Robots like Tally are collaborating with staff, taking on the manual repetitive tasks to free human workers up to take care of customer relations. When machines handle the shelf scans, humans can focus on helping customers.
