Hesai to Double Annual Lidar Output to 4 Million Units in 2026
- Hesai will increase its annual lidar production capacity from 2 million to over 4 million units in 2026.
- The expansion is supported by fully automated in-house manufacturing and a new factory in Thailand opening in 2027.
Shanghai-based Hesai, a supplier of lidar for automotive and robotics applications, announced at CES 2026 that it will double its annual production capacity to over 4 million units. The increase follows 2 million cumulative deliveries in 2025 and responds to growing demand in ADAS and robotics markets.

The expansion is supported by fully automated production lines capable of producing one unit every 10 seconds, as well as in-house ASIC development. A new factory in Bangkok is under construction and expected to begin operations in early 2027 to support global output.
“Our customers are scaling faster than ever, and we are scaling with them. By expanding our annual capacity to over 4 million units and adding our new Thailand facility, we’re building a global manufacturing footprint that can reliably support mass production. Our commitment is simple: deliver world-class lidar, at scale, with the consistency and trust that the automotive industry demands,” said David Li, Co-founder and CEO of Hesai, in a news release.
Hesai reports that more than 4 million units of the new ATX lidar have been ordered by 24 automotive OEMs, with deliveries beginning in April 2026. It also stated that its JT series, a compact 3D lidar for mobile robots, has surpassed 200,000 shipments and is deployed across a wide range of industries. At CES, the company is showcasing its L3 lidar suite and OT128 model, already in use across robotaxi fleets.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
Hesai doubling output signals that lidar demand is growing fast and spreading across industries as spatial computing goes mainstream.
