  • Project Starline evolves into Google Beam, delivering immersive 3D video calls powered by AI.
  • New partnerships with HP, Zoom, and global enterprises set stage for workplace deployment.

Google has formally launched Google Beam, a 3D video communication platform built on the foundations of its former research initiative, Project Starline. Beam leverages AI to convert standard video into volumetric 3D visuals without requiring users to wear headsets or glasses, enabling more lifelike and in-person conversations.

Google Beam uses an AI model and a light field display to create a lifelike sense of depth, making conversations more natural. This lets people hold eye contact, read facial expressions, and interact as if they were in the same room, all supported by the reliability of Google Cloud.

Google Beam is launching with a strong network of partners to bring its 3D video platform into the workplace. HP will debut the first Beam devices at InfoComm, while Zoom will collaborate on platform integration. Enterprise adopters include Deloitte, Salesforce, and Citadel, with broader rollouts supported by channel partners like Diversified and AVI-SPL.

🌀 Tom's Take:

At I/O 2025, Google made it clear: the future isn’t tethered to a single device. It’s a 3D-first era, with spatial displays, headsets, and glasses all pushing spatial computing into the mainstream. Together with its enterprise partnerships, Google is set to reinvent the conference room, and in turn, accelerate our shift into this next wave of computing.
