Diligent Robotics Joins AARP Accelerator to Bring Moxi to Senior Care Communities
- Diligent Robotics has been accepted into the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP, an 8-week program for early-stage technology companies focused on aging.
- The move signals the company’s expansion into senior living and long-term care communities.
Diligent Robotics, the company behind the hospital assistant robot Moxi, has announced it has been selected for AARP's AgeTech Collaborative. The accelerator program runs for eight weeks and helps early-stage companies focused on aging by offering support with product development and go-to-market strategies. For Diligent, this marks a move into senior care settings, including long-term care and senior living communities, where staffing shortages continue to grow.
“Building on the trust we are establishing in hospitals, expanding into senior living and long-term care is a huge milestone for Diligent,” said Andrea Thomaz, CEO & Co-Founder of Diligent Robotics, in a press release. “For years, Moxi has proven its value by reliably supporting clinicians across some of the nation’s leading hospitals. By bringing that same dedication to customers and the future of physical AI into senior care, we can support a new set of care teams facing critical staffing challenges. It’s a powerful step in showing just how broadly our technology can scale to improve care delivery.”
To date, Moxi has completed more than 1.25 million deliveries in hospitals, handling tasks like transporting medications, lab samples, and supplies. The robot is designed to operate in busy clinical environments, allowing nurses and staff to focus on patient care. Moxi is already in use at hospitals such as Northwestern Medicine and Providence Saint John’s, and has helped staff save nearly 600,000 hours of work.
With this expansion, Diligent will explore how assistive robotics can support senior care teams and residents. The accelerator will help the company identify where its AI-native robots can have the greatest impact. Diligent also plans to advance physical AI capabilities as it adapts its technology for the long-term care sector.
