DEEP Robotics Launches First IP66-Rated Humanoid for All-Weather Operations
- DR02 is the first full-size industrial-grade humanoid robot built for all-weather outdoor operations, with an IP66 rating and wide temperature tolerance.
- It supports modular maintenance, real-time decision-making, and task execution in environments such as rainy factories, cold storage facilities, and security patrols.
DEEP Robotics has introduced DR02, an industrial-grade humanoid robot designed specifically for environments exposed to rain, dust, and extreme temperatures. It is described as the world’s first humanoid robot with an IP66 rating, designed for all-weather operation across temperatures from -20℃ to 55℃. The company says the design solves the problem of robots breaking down in outdoor conditions, a core challenge that has limited industrial deployment.
DR02 is engineered to move like a human and work in spaces built for people. It stands 175 cm tall with human-proportioned arms and walks at 1.5 meters per second, with a top speed of 4 m/s for urgent tasks. It can climb stairs up to 20 cm high, navigate 20° slopes, and carry up to 20 kg—10 kg in each arm. These capabilities support tasks like cargo handling, equipment delivery, warehouse navigation, and security patrols, especially in mixed or unpredictable environments. With its human-scale form and mobility, it’s built to integrate directly into existing workflows.
The robot is also designed for long-term field use. Its arms and legs are modular and interchangeable, allowing for fast swaps and reduced downtime. A high-performance computing unit with 275 TOPS powers real-time decision-making, supported by LiDAR, a depth camera, and a wide-angle camera for obstacle detection and path planning. DEEP Robotics says DR02 will become smarter over time through software updates, unlocking new functions and expanding its role across more industrial scenarios.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
It's easy to forget that most robots still struggle with things like rain, heat, or uneven ground. DR02 is designed to face these conditions head-on in order to more effectively perform its job.
