Coco Robots Begin Shake Shack Deliveries in Chicago via Uber Eats
- Shake Shack has launched robot-powered deliveries from two Chicago locations using Coco’s autonomous platform.
- The integration connects directly to Uber Eats, enabling zero-emission last-mile delivery without extra steps for store staff.
Coco Robotics has partnered with Shake Shack and Uber Eats to offer autonomous food deliveries in Chicago. The new service uses Coco’s sidewalk-traveling robots to deliver Shake Shack meals from two initial locations, with plans to expand across the city.
The robots are integrated directly into Shake Shack’s Uber Eats ordering system, removing the need for manual order handling by in-store teams. Orders are transferred from the kitchen to the curb and completed by Coco robots.
Shake Shack framed the rollout as a way to boost convenience and meet demand during colder months and peak times. "At Shake Shack, we're always looking for new ways to meet our guests where they are, and this partnership gives us another convenient option to bring the Shack experience to them, especially during the colder months," said Steph So, Chief Growth Officer in a press release. She added that the robots are “intuitive, easy to work with, and bring a little extra joy to delivery.”
The new Chicago offering continues to expand Coco Robotics' presence across major U.S. cities. Founded in 2020, Coco has completed over 500,000 zero-emission deliveries, serving customers in the U.S. and Europe.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
The integration into Shake Shack’s existing Uber Eats flow is a key point here. Adding no extra steps for staff means the sidewalk robots can truly help with maximizing fulfillment beyond current delivery methods.
