Apple Expands Immersive Web Capabilities on visionOS with New Safari Update

Safari 26.0 expands web capabilities in visionOS with new support for more immersive video formats, 3D content, and advanced graphics.
Developers can now use the <model> HTML tag to display USDZ 3D models in webpages on visionOS. The tag supports built-in lighting, animation playback, user interaction, and the ability for users to bring 3D objects into their real-world space.
Apple Immersive Video is now supported in Safari using the new Apple Projected Media Profile (APMP). WebKit now supports spatial video, Apple Immersive Video, and 180°, 360°, and wide field-of-view formats on Vision Pro. Developers can embed these videos in webpages for immersive playback on curved surfaces in Safari on visionOS.

Safari 26.0 also brings WebGPU to visionOS, enabling high-performance graphics and compute operations with direct access to the GPU. This supports advanced rendering workflows using frameworks like Three.js and Unity. In addition, Safari now supports HDR images on the web, allowing more vivid visuals with enhanced dynamic range and color depth.
