Agora and Banuba Bring Real-Time AR Effects to Live Video

- Agora and Banuba have partnered to deliver live video enhanced with AI-powered AR effects.
- The integration aims to help developers and media platforms create more immersive and interactive content.
Agora and Banuba are collaborating to bring AI-powered augmented reality features to live video. The companies aim to equip developers, broadcasters, and media platforms with tools for creating more interactive and expressive real-time experiences.
Banuba’s platform provides AI-based tools, including background replacement, studio lighting, customizable beauty filters, and avatar-based face effects. It also introduced Banuba Studio, a browser-based editor for building and testing AR filters. Agora delivers the ultra-low-latency infrastructure required to apply Banuba’s visual effects in real time. Its real-time engagement stack supports seamless integration across live entertainment, education, and social applications.
"Our latest AR features are designed to empower creators and broadcasters to look their best and express themselves in entirely new ways," said Dmitry Ogievich, CEO and Co-Founder at Banuba, in a press release. "With Agora, these tools become part of a seamless, high-quality, real-time experience."
The partnership is structured to combine Banuba’s AR creation tools with Agora’s real-time delivery system, offering a full-stack solution for live, interactive video. At IBC 2025, the two companies are demonstrating how this integration supports creators and platforms seeking to enhance engagement with professional-grade visual effects.
🌀 Tom’s Take:
Real-time AR is only as good as the speed it runs on. Without low-latency infrastructure, even the most advanced effects can lag, break immersion, or disrupt live experiences.
