  • Infravision secured $91 million in Series B funding to expand its TX System for automated power line installation.
  • The system integrates drones, ground tools, and stringing hardware to replace helicopter and manual methods.

Infravision has raised $91 million in Series B funding led by GIC, with support from Activate Capital, Hitachi Ventures, and Energy Impact Partners. The funding will expand the use of its TX System, which combines drones, automated ground equipment, and stringing hardware to install power lines. The system is designed to speed up construction and cut costs compared to helicopters and manual methods.

The TX System integrates aerial robotics, smart ground equipment, and custom hardware to streamline grid construction. Already in use on large-scale transmission projects like Powerlink Genex in Australia and PG&E emergency responses in California, the system is designed to function from a truck-based fleet for flexible, daily operations. Infravision says its method enhances safety, cuts outages, and reduces community disruption.

Founded in 2018, the company has completed more than 40 projects across four countries. With the new funding, Infravision plans to scale North American operations, hire engineering talent, and partner with utilities and contractors to meet rising electricity demand driven by AI, electrification, and industrial growth.

🌀 Tom’s Take:

Infravision is turning power line construction into a scalable, tech-driven service just as North America races to expand the grid. Replacing helicopters with drone fleets could shift how utilities approach speed, safety, and cost at scale.
